Hedge Trimming & Maintenance

Frequently asked questions relating to our hedge trimming and maintenance services

Timing of pruning should take into account the potential for nesting birds. However in general, these are the optimum timings for pruning hedges:

Deciduous hedges

  • Formative pruning: In winter, just after planting, and for the first two years after planting
  • Maintenance pruning: Each summer

Evergreen hedges

  • Formative pruning: In the spring after planting and for the first two years after planting
  • Maintenance pruning: Each summer

Hedge trimming starts at £50, however, this depends on the size and length of the hedges and its condition.

Hedge maintenance depends on the size of your garden, land and hedges. We typically create custom hedge maintenance packages for our clients. Please contact us for more information.

Stump Removal

Frequently asked questions relating to our stump removal services

The stump removal process is the more intrusive of the two. Grinding is much more efficient than stump removal, however, it does leave the tree’s roots behind. If the stump is large, the chip pile produced can also be quite large, but the chips can be used as mulch for other plants in your garden

Yes, the roots cannot grow once the stump is removed because roots need nutrients to grow that can only be supplied by the tree’s leaves.

While you won’t be able to see the tree stump once it has been ground down, the roots will still exist underground. They can be 4, 6 or even 10 feet long. They will decay eventually, however, it can take around 10 years for the roots to completely decompose.

Tree Felling

Frequently asked questions relating to our tree felling services

Essentially, tree felling involves removing a tree to improve safety in the area or prevent diseases spreading in the landscape.

If the tree has a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) placed on it then you will need permission from the council to perform any works to the tree, whether that’s removing a branch or felling the tree. We recommend contacting us for more information and advice.

This will all depend on the tree size and location of the tree. Prices typically start at £150.  We recommend contacting us for more information.
